About Us

  • What is Theatre On Ice?

Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe, where it is known as Ballet on Ice. It combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Teams consist of between eight and twenty-four skaters. Solo skating is discouraged but is permitted in limited amounts if it enhances the overall telling of the program's story. The programs are judged by regular U.S. Figure Skating judges and are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality. Theatre on Ice consists of two programs: the Free Skate (FS) and the Choreographic Exercise (CE), which is similar to a short program in singles skating.

There are TOI teams and TOI competitions around the country, and U.S. Figure Skating is making an effort to standardize and promote this discipline.

  • Benefits

Both skaters and clubs can experience great rewards from forming and/or joining a Theatre On Ice team. Skaters receive the following benefits:

    • More competitions when performing in competitions and shows

    • A chance to develop the dramatic side of their skating

    • A chance to be part of a team while continuing to use their technical skills

    • A chance to travel both locally and internationally

    • A chance to make new friends both in and out of the club

    • A chance to relax while performing and competing for competitive skaters

  • Our Mission

Harmony Theatre Company's goal is to assist skaters in the development of performance skills and the dramatic side of their skating. Responsibility, commitment, work ethic, team spirit, good sportsmanship and a positive attitude are taught through the art of figure skating and required of all skaters.

We strive to develop Harmony amongst all skaters and our program provides team members with the opportunity to cultivate friendships and connections locally, nationally and internationally. Harmony Theatre Company strives to be a leader in the USFSA Theatre on Ice discipline.

We develop athletes of all ages and levels of ability to their full potential. Our goals include growing our community outreach programs and performing arts exhibitions.

  • Made-in-Michigan

Harmony Theatre Company is a quality grassroots organization that has grown exponentially since its inception in 2009. We boast 100+ skaters, ranging in age from 6 to 76. The growth and success of our six teams is attributed to not only hard work, commitment, expertise, and leadership in the field but also to our inclusive programs and community outreach in the area of this unique art form.

Harmony Theatre Company's dedicated skaters and coaching staff have been highlighted in many local, national, and international media outlets as a result of our competitive history and notable success.

Our most recent accomplishments at the 2022 National Theatre On Ice Competition in Wichita, Kansas resulted in Gold for our Novice and Adult teams, and Silver for our Senior and Intermediate teams.
