all about group Lessons

Group Learn To Skate classes are available year-round, split up into 5-7 week sessions.

Register at any time! We will prorate to your start date.

  • Instructor-led group classes are held at either Hartland Ice House or Biggby Coffee Ice Cube Brighton. Registering for a class enrolls your student in one “session” which is typically 6 weeks long.

All classes are 35-minute instructor-led sessions. Skaters will learn proper technique with their instructor leading the way. Skaters progress through each class level at their own pace, earning testing badges when they master the skills in each level.

There is no need to wait for a new session to move up! Skaters are placed in classes based on age and experience. Instructors assess skaters and move them to the appropriate class level when the skater is ready.

Class sizes are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Skaters will be invoiced if space is available or notified of other dates/times available if the requested class is full. If no space is available in any of our classes, skaters will be placed on a waiting list.

  • - Make sure skaters dress warmly, including a pair of gloves. Younger children may want to wear snow pants for extra warmth.

    - We strongly recommend beginning skaters wear a helmet. A helmet, mittens/gloves are required for children 6 and under. Bicycle or hockey helmets are acceptable.

    - Skaters should come dressed, ready to take the ice immediately after putting on skates.

    - Proper fitting skates are required. No double blades. Do not leave growing room. Skates should have firm ankle support.

    - Skate rental must be pre-paid. Skate rental is $3.00 per child per week. NO REFUNDS

    - Skaters will spend the entire class time with an instructor.

    - Parents are asked to watch from the stands.
